Originally Japan flagged and owned, under the name SHOFUKU MARU NO. 78, this vessel transferred owner to Escorim Trade Co Ltd from KK Usufuku Honten and rename to STARLET NO. 901 in 1991. This vessel held 4 flags during this ownership period (Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Sierra Leone, Panama, Belize) until selling vessel to Viarsa Fishing Co Ltd. Sources indicate Viarsa Fishing Co Ltd was owned by Vidal Armadores SA, a company with a history of fisheries compliance issues. Sale coincided with flag transfer to Uruguay. Vessel was included in the CCAMLR IUU list in 2003 due to illegal Black Hake fishing in Australian territory and the CCAMLR Regulatory Area. This vessel was apprehended by Australian authorities after a 23-day pursuit. Trial in Canberra court acquitted this vessel and its crew of all charges, defendants claimed toothfish on board were caught outside of Australian waters. Vessel was delisted on 7 November 2008. Owner and flag details are unknown since 2007.
