EL SHADAI (IND-TN-15-MM-4424) was boarded and inspected by British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT) fisheries protection officers on 19 November 2022 and was observed in BIOT waters on 22 February 2022 but not inspected due to covid restrictions. BIOT authorities observed this vessel fishing illegally without a licence within BIOT waters twice in 2022. Inspectors found IOTC managed species such as yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares) and sharks onboard the vessel. The vessel did not carry a logbook and did not submit a transit request prior to entry into BIOT waters. This vessel was included in the IOTC IUU list on 10 May 2023 whilst flagged to India and under ownership of REJIKUMAR S/O SILUVAIYAN.
