This vessel was IATTC IUU listed on 26 December 2005 and delisted 30 June 2006, whilst flagged to Belize, named WANG JIA MEN NO. 88 and owned/operated by Captura Todo de Belize Co Ltd. Reason for listing is unclear. Vessel previously held Panama flag. Vessel held IOTC authorisation 2007-2011. This vessel and partner vessel WANG JIA MEN 89 attempted to offload shark fins in Costa Rica in 2011 using a new processing method that removed most of the shark’s body whilst retaining a small strip of flesh to circumvent Costa Rica’s ban on offloading fins only. This method was subject to an Interpol Purple Notice issued by Costa Rica in 2011. Kathy Tseng represented both vessels and was sentenced to 6 months in jail in 2017. Vessel owner in 2011 was the same as when IUU listed (Captura Todo de Belize Co Ltd) but operator had transferred to Imperio Pesquero del Pacífico SA. Four staff of Imperio Pesquero del Pacífico SA were arrested in 2010 charged with human trafficking and labour offences.
