This vessel was one of thirteen Belize flagged longline vessels that landed fish in the port of Phuket, Thailand, in 2012. IOTC records revealed none of the 13 vessels had ever been registered on the IOTC record of authorised vessels. Investigations found documents provided during inspection were deemed to be fraudulent and these 13 vessels, including SRI FU FA 188, had never been registered or authorised to fish by Belize. This vessel was included in the IOTC IUU list in June 2014 for operating in the IOTC Convention Area without authorisation.
