This vessel was boarded and inspected by British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT) patrol vessels on suspicion of being involved in illegal fishing in UK BIOT waters on 3 occasions from 2021-2023. In 2023, the vessel had been fishing in BIOT waters for at least a week when it was boarded and inspected by UK BIOT patrol officers. Fresh caught fish was found on board including IOTC managed species. The vessel was not on the IOTC list of Authorised Fishing Vessels at the time and had not submitted a transit reporting form to the BIOT authorities. The vessel was fishing illegally without a licence within BIOT waters and was instructed to leave BIOT waters immediately. This vessel was included in the IOTC IUU Vessel list on 30 May 2022 whilst named AVE MARIYA, flagged to India and owned by Jerin Charles S/O Bosco.
