This vessel was one of thirteen Belize flagged longline vessels that landed fish in the port of Phuket, Thailand, in 2012. IOTC records revealed none of the 13 vessels had ever been registered on the IOTC record of authorised vessels. Investigations found documents provided during inspection were deemed to be fraudulent and these 13 vessels, including SRI FU FA 189, had never been registered or authorised to fish by Belize. This vessel was included in the IOTC IUU list in June 2014 for operating in the IOTC Convention Area without authorisation. Sources show this vessel held a Myanmar fishing license in 2014 and was operating as a longliner in the Indian Ocean. Sources also show this vessel landed catch at Myeik port, Myanmar in March 2014.
