fishing vessel indicating its vessel
name “ZHOU YU 809” MMSI
412401260, in the Koko seamount
area of Convention area at 36˚44'N,
171˚27'E on August 29, 2018,
allegedly conducted fishing for deep
sea coral.
There was a duly registered vessel
with the same name “ZHOU YU
809” on the NPFC vessel registry,
but it is confirmed that the sighted
vessel is not the duly licensed one.
nb. nb. analysis of the AIS tracks of the vessel transmitting over MMSI 412401260 indicate that it was not present at the location/date specified. Based on that, and cross-referencing with transmitted details, that MMSI is believed to be primarily associated with the NPFC-authorised ZHOU YU 809.
