Overview

On 16 May the vessel was sighted as FV SHAANXI HENAN 33 near Christmas Island. Detected fishing illegally in the CCAMLR area 13 January 2015, using name YONGDING. Believed to be fishing in conjunction with vessels KUNLUN and SONGHUA, which were detected in the same area. Stern marking and information provided by the Master indicate it was flagged to Equatorial Guinea. Vessel refused boarding and handed over papers – there are questions regarding their authenticity. An Interpol Purple Notice was issued for this vessel 21 January 2015. The vessel was sighted in Mindelo, Cabo Verde in May 2015, using the name LUAMPA and flag Sierra Leone. The vessel was subsequently detained by the Cabo Verde authorities. In 2017, sources indicated that the vessel reflagged to Tanzania and is now named ATLANTIC WIND. The vessel was deregistered by Tanzania in September 2017. The vessel appears to be sometimes be using MMSI 677071300, but this number is also in use by at least one other vessel.
