COMBINED IUU VESSEL LIST

On 6 May 2020, the US Coast Guard sighted this vessel North of the British Virgin Islands at position 24-28.0 N 063- 40.0 W. Approximately 250 shark fins were photographed hanging from lines throughout the vessels deck. This vessel was flagged to Senegal and named MARIO 11 at the time of sighting by US Coast Guard. On June 4 2020, Senegal stated this vessel is under a cancellation procedure of the Senegal flag, which has been in progress since January 7 2020. Senegal further reported that this vessel does not hold a valid license for fishing on the high seas and is, according to national law, fishing illegally. This vessel was included in the ICCAT IUU list on 17 February 2021 for breach of shark finning regulations. Sources show this vessel was purchased by the Namibian company South Wolf Holdings (PTY) Ltd on 28 October 2020 and soon after renamed to HALIFAX and reflagged to Namibia. On 21 October 2021, the Namibian Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources requested this vessels removal from the ICCAT IUU list due to this change in ownership.
