While LU RONG YUAN YU 106 is registered as one purse seine vessel in the NPFC list, two vessels with the identical name but different vessel types were seen operating in the NPFC Convention Area. LU RONG YUAN YU 106 was seen at 40˚30.4'N, 149˚ 34'E on 29 May 2016 operating lift nets. LU RONG YUAN YU 106 was seen at 40˚17.6'N, 148˚33'E on the same day operating stern trawl. The two fishing vessels with duplicate names LU RONG YUAN YU 106 were also seen transhipping with a carrier vessel MIN FU DING YU LENG 08888 at 42˚16.4'N, 151˚21.4'E on 8 October 2016. Images show Port of Shidao displayed on the vessels. This vessel was included in the NPFC IUU list on 13 November 2017. NPFC considers any vessel using the name LU RONG YUAN YU 106 to be operating illegally. The trawler with this name that was IUU listed by NPFC is a match on name and MMSI to the previous identity of IMO 8799932, and the photo of the IUU listed vessel also appears to be a match for available photos of IMO 8799932
