This vessel was originally Spain owned and flagged whilst operated by Reunion based company Cap Bourbon. This vessel held Belize, Namibia then France flags from 1995 to 2001. Cap Bourbon became joint owner and operator of this vessel in 2001. After a period of unknown flag registry in 2001, this vessel held a Seychelles flag and renamed to LENA from CAP GEORGE. In 2002 vessel ownership transferred to Grupo Oya Perez and operator to Lena Enterprises Ltd. This vessel was added to the CCAMLR IUU vessel list on 7 November 2003 for fishing inside the CCAMLR Convention Area without authorisation. Sources indicate this vessel may be a member of the “Alphabet boats” a group of illegal vessels involved in unauthorised toothfish fishing in the CCAMLR area. Shortly after being classified an IUU vessel, this vessel changed name to ALOS, owner to Grupo Oya Perez SL and flag to Ghana. These credentials lasted 5 months until transferring name, owner and flag again to ROSS, Lena Enterprises Ltd and Togo respectively. This vessel transferred to its last known name, LIMPOPO, in September 2007 and was flagged to Mozambique. Vessel ownership transferred to Alos Company Ghana Ltd on 17 April 2008. Sources suggest this vessel registered to Togo and held a Togo flag on 15 April 2010. This flag was revoked for IUU fishing.
