This vessel was originally Japan owned and flagged. In 1991 this vessel transferred flag to Malaysia and a Malaysia based owner, Muvaz Transportation Sdn Bhd. During Muvaz Transportation Sdn Bhd period of ownership (1991-2019) this vessel held Philippines, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines flags as well as numerous vessel names (TENO MARU NO. 15, HSIANG CHANG, and SOUTHERN STAR 136). This vessel was included in the ICCAT IUU list under the vessel name SOUTHERN STAR 136 on 3 August 2005 for fishing in Brazilian waters without a licence. The last known owner of the vessel was Kuo Jeng Marine Services Limited until the vessels reported sale to an undisclosed interest in early 2020.
