Vessel first held a Japan flag from 1980 to 1990 followed by a one-month stint with Guinea-Bissau, and Panama flag from 1990-1994. Dongwon Industries Co Ltd owned, operated and managed this vessel from 1994-2003 followed by MR Ki-Choul Wang from 2003-2007. During Mr Ki-Choul Wang’s ownership, this vessel was included in the ICCAT IUU list for operating in the Mediterranean during the closed season. This vessel was also found to be operating illegally by fisheries observers in June 2005 when the observer on board recorded this vessel laying longlines during the daytime and illegally de-finning sharks. Fishing licenses were authorised for this vessel throughout its IUU listing. The IOTC authorised numerous licenses from 2003-2018, CCSBT from 2003-2013, ICCAT 2013-2017 and IATTC from 2017-2020. This vessel was detained by Russia on 14 January 2017 suspected of IUU transhipment activity. 30 tons of crab were found on board. This vessel was Togo flagged and owned by North Cargo Services at the time of Russian detainment.
