This vessel was Spain flagged and owned 1980-2013, having had 4 Spanish owners during this period (Pescaven Dos SA, Astilleros Huelva SA, Astipesca SL) and 3 names (EL CUARTO, MANUEL CORTES and HERMANOS PINZON). This vessel reflagged to Belize, renamed to OKAPI MARTA and transferred owner/operator to OKAPI INVERSIONES 2012 S.L. in June 2013. ICCAT authorised this vessel to operate as a carrier vessel from 25 August 2014 to 24 August 2015. This vessel was later included in the GFCM IUU list in 2016. In February 2016, this vessel transferred to an unknown flag and sources indicate vessel kept the same owner and operator, OKAPI INVERSIONES 2012 S.L., until 10 September 2018 when Africa Maritime Co SA gained ownership and operator status of the vessel. This change coincided with a name change to SUMMER REFER. Panama received criticism from the European Union for registering this vessel from June 2018 to February 2019 whilst still GFCM IUU listed.
